Leader In Me/PBIS

Leader In Me

Each student at Pinnacle Peak Prep is considered a leader in their own way. We believe that each student has leadership skills, and we focus on eight habits from Leader in Me to help them become effective leaders and work well with others.

These eight habits are a part of our teaching, and they are connected to our school-wide approach called PBIS. Our students get chances to set goals, track their progress, work together with classmates and adults, celebrate their achievements, and take on leadership roles in the classroom or school.

Here are the 8 Habits we focus on:

  • Be Proactive
  • Begin with the End in Mind
  • Put First Things First
  • Think Win-Win
  • Seek First to Understand, Then be Understood
  • Synergize
  • Sharpen the Saw
  • Find Your Voice

Leader in Me is a proven school improvement model created by Franklin Covey. It gives our students the leadership and life skills they need to succeed in the 21st century. Using the PBIS and Leader in Me language at home helps support these skills, and each student plays a positive role in our learning community at Pinnacle Peak Prep.

Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

PBIS is a proactive, multi-tiered approach Pinnacle Peak Prep uses to increase learning, promote positive behavior and improve school safety.

PBIS recognizes that students can only meet behavior expectations if they know what the expectations are. Everyone learns what is considered appropriate behavior and they use a common language (SOAR) to talk about it. Throughout the school day — in class, at lunch, and on the bus — students understand what is expected of them. At Pinnacle Peak Prep, we strive to SOAR every day.
